Rabun County Fire Departments Receive New ISO Rating

We are happy to report that, as of April 27, 2009, ISO has re-rated Rabun County’s fire departments — including all of the ones that serve Lake Burton. The new rating for our area is a “5” . . . down from a “9”. This rating takes effect on August 1, 2009. Those with homeowners insurance polices in effect before that date should contact their insurance agents and alert them of this change. The adjustment from a “9” to a “5” rating should result in a substantial reduction to your insurance premium. Keep in mind that this improvement would not have happened without the many hours and hard work of our volunteer fire personnel. Be sure to show them your gratitude.

If that is the case with your provider, we recommend that you have your insurance agent contact the Rabun County Fire Department and speak to Marty or James. The Lake Burton community is served by three volunteer fire departments. The LBCA encourages everyone to support the fundraising events held each year to help these volunteers enhance their equipment and fire-fighting skills.
