As you motor down Timpson Cove, headed west, ahead of you rises layer upon layer of blue mountains ending at the distant summit of 4,430 foot Tray Mountain - one of the outstanding peaks of the Georgia Blue Ridge. Where the Appalachian Trail crosses its summit, the hiker is rewarded with views in all directions from a number of small rock outcrops. In this picture, taken by Mike Maffett, Timpson Cove with its peninsula can clearly be seen.
