Lake Burton Area Volunteer Fire Departments

The Lake Burton community is served by three volunteer fire departments.  The LBCA encourages everyone to support the fundraising events held each year to help these volunteers enhance their equipment and fire-fighting skills.  See our website's calendar page for the dates of upcoming events.  Donations may also be sent to the departments at the addresses listed below.  Please note that the phone numbers listed are the fire station numbers which are for non-emergency calls only.  In case of an emergency, always dial 911.

Rabun County Fire Departments Received New ISO Rating

On April 27, 2009, ISO (the organization that rates fire departments for insurance companies) re-rated Rabun County‘s fire departments — including all of the ones that serve Lake Burton.  The new rating for our area became a 5, down from a 9.  The rating took effect on August 1, 2009.  Those with homeowners insurance polices in effect before that date should contact their insurance agents and alert them of this change.  The adjustment from a 9 to a 5 rating should result in a substantial reduction to your insurance premium.  Keep in mind that this improvement would not have happened without the many hours and hard work of our volunteer fire personnel.  Be sure to show them your gratitude.

Several LBCA members communicated to us that their insurance providers were requesting additional information to substantiate these fire department ratings.  If that is the case with your provider, we recommend that you have your insurance agent contact the Rabun County Fire Department and speak to Marty or James.  They may be contacted via e-mail at rabuncountyfire@gmail.com or by telephone at 706-782-2336.
